I’m looking for an AWD vehicle that I could have some fun in. I’m thinking hatch, wagon, or sedan. The vehicle should be under 10k, and manual is always appreciated. Any brilliant ideas?
AWD Bently for your time

Why not even a base-level Subaru Impreza wagon?
I miss my old 2.5TS Bugeye dearly...2.5L 170hp 5-speed from factory for reference (note - that was the base trim in North America). Not blistering, but it was still a fun car. :)

B7 2.0t models are reliable, stylish and available with a 6 speed. Same goes for B6 models, the 3.0 was the most reliable and the 1.8t was the other option. B5 cars are great, the 1.8t is hit or miss and the NA 2.8 was generally reliable as a rule of thumb. Add wagon form to any of those and you’ve got a great car.
You can’t get an A3 with manual transmission and Quattro. Not those.
2.7t S4 or A6 for added fun, but harder to find a good one because they’re needy cars if not maintained properly.
If you have any questions about getting an A4 or A6 or any Audi made in the last 15 years or so, I’m your guy.

The answer is always Subaru. Although a manual can be hard to find. But they exist.

Suzuki SX4, can be found under 10000 with a 6 speed AWD.
Little, fun, wagon. I still miss mine.

I posted a 2006 Audi A4 Avant 3.0 a while back, and provided it is still for sale next year when I plan to buy a car, I am hoping to grab it.
Good to know that there is another Audi enthusiast around here, but I’m sure you’re much more well versed than I.

Wow, that’s really nice actually. Factory BBS wheels also, which is fairly rare. That would be a 3.2 though, hehe. The 3.2 is literally a 4.2 V8 with 2 cylinders less.
Awesome factory exhaust note, more reliable than the 1.8t but less aftermarket performance available.
Also, this is what they sound like.

Beautiful. Any (tasteful) mods you think I should consider?

You should be thinking Subaru Legacy. If you aren’t, shame on you.

Coilovers and a tune, maybe an exhaust system are all good mods.
Avoid cheap parts also, those are the worst.

It’ll be my first purchase, so needless to say, I’m excited!

I’ll look into a 10k version. Maybe I’ll get a wheel.

Could you further explain the generation scheme of Audis (B4, B6, etc). Is it like the Miata scheme of NA NB NC?

“B” generation cars are for the Audi A4/S4 (B5,B6,B7,B8,B8.5)
“D” generation cars are for the Audi A8 (D.......)
“C” generation cars are for the Audi A6 (C4, C5......)
and so on.........
